Engage in Community

Community is where you can engage yourself and chat with your friends on campus. Also, you can join different club channels and groups to stay connected on the school-specific topics. In this article, you can learn more about how to:

Join a campus group

Your campus app lets you join clubs and groups on campus. You can join a club, post on the club wall, and sign up for club events.

To join a campus group:

  • Log in to your campus app, then tap

    (second right tab, bottom) to view the campus guide

  • Tap the clubs and groups tile or search by group name using the search option

     at the top

  • Locate the group in the list

  • Tap to view the club details, then tap "Join Group Channel."

 

See My Groups

You can see the list of groups you are a part of. To see your list of groups:

  • Log in to your campus app, then tap

    ("Profile"- bottom row, last tab).

  • Tap "My Groups."

Add a Friend

You can chat with your friends and share your course timetable with them.

To add someone as a friend:

  • Log in to your campus app and tap

     (last tab, bottom) then tap "My Friends."

  • Tap

    , then type the person's name.

  • Tap the person's name to view their profile, then tap "Add friend."

The person will receive a notification in their inbox.

You can also tap a person's name where it appears on the campus wall, a club wall, or a club member list.  From there, you'll be taken to their profile, where you can add them as a friend. The campus app lets you chat with your friends and have private conversations.

The app can notify you when your friends send you messages. If you are getting too many notifications, you can control what notifications you receive and then see how to turn them off.

 

Block / Unfriend

The campus app lets you block someone from seeing your campus wall posts and other actions on the app. 

To block someone:

  • Tap the person's name on the campus wall, a club wall, or a club member list. You will be shown that person's profile

  • Tap the "..." icon ("More," top right)

  • Tap "Block User.”

Once you've blocked someone, the following changes are applicable:

  • You will not see their posts on a Channel, and they won't see yours.  

  • You will not be able to send chat messages and vice-versa.

  • You cannot like their posts in Community and vice-versa.

  • You can still see and like their comments on a post and vice-versa.

  • You can see their posts while searching for posts across multiple channels

  • Please note that if the blocked user has Moderation permissions for a channel, then you will still see their posts in the Channel

You can unfriend someone without blocking them:

  • Tap ("Profile"- bottom row, last tab), then tap "My Friends."

  • Tap the person's name in your list of friends

  • Tap "Friends" to unfriend that person

Can't Post in a Community?

You need to verify your email address before posting in a campus community.

  • Try to post to the campus community

  • If your account is not verified, you will be prompted

  • Follow the on-screen instructions. 

Once your account is verified, you'll be able to post in the community.

 

Flag inappropriate content

If someone makes a community post that violates community standards, you can flag it. 

  • At the bottom-right of any post, tap "..."

  • Tap "Report as Inappropriate."

If enough people flag the post, it will be taken down until a moderator approves it.
