Encourage Student participation in Community

Your Community provides several rich opportunities to listen and proactively communicate with the entire student body. As with any social tool, your staff and student leaders can help create a “buzz” by encouraging students to engage with the community in various ways.

For details on engaging with Community as a Host, see Engage with Community as a Host, and for creating Channels in the Community, see Create a Channel (Public or Private).

Here are some ideas to help you get started:

  1. Quick Polls

  2. Photo Contests (e.g. “How I Spent My Summer”)

  3. Hashtags

1. Quick Polls

Use Channels and Group Walls in Community to assess student engagement.

2. Photo Contests (e.g. “How I Spent My Summer”)

Encourage students to post in Channels on topics that bring the Student Community Together, such as favourite board games, summer weather etc.

3. Hashtags

Suggest hashtags and contests give away prizes and goodies to increase student engagement and participation!
