This week's release of the API introduced two behavior changes.

🌟 Keyword Alert logic is now more precise

Previously keywords and phrases created for a Keyword Alert triggered an email whenever the word(s) matched on text within a post or comment - even if the word was contained within a longer string.

Example: "cat" was triggering an email for a post that included the word "catch."

With this update, the email will be triggered only if the string is an exact match. Note that this logic accepts certain delimiters (space, period, comma, hyphen).

Example: "cat" matches on "cat." "cat," "cat-". It will not match on "catch" or "cats"

The result of this change is that fewer "false positive" matches should occur, and administrators will be notified only about posts that are directly relevant.Β

🌟 Updating a channel to "default" now adds all existing users as members

When creating a new channel in Community, if you toggle the setting to default, this automatically adds all existing and new users as channel members. However, if you edited an existing channel to change it from a non-default channel to a default channel, new users were being added, but existing users were not getting added retroactively.

With this update, updating an existing channel will work the same as creating the channel; i.e. toggling an existing channel to be "default" will effectively auto-add all existing user retroactively, as well as all newly created users going forward.Β

The exception to this is if a user previously removed themselves from the channel. In this case, their preference will be honored, and they will not be re-added to the channel automatically.
